Our Projects

Kick the Dialogue

Working under the umbrella of Real Relief, The Period Pride Campaign proudly took part in the international movement Kick Off the Dialogue on menstrual health and hygiene. The campaign engaged partners across 28 countries to spark conversations around menstruation, dignity and inclusion.

In our implementation, football — a powerful tool for engagement — was used to bring people together, steer dialogues and generate action. In one example, a symbolic “SDG football” was kicked from country to country to mark the start of the dialogue.

Our goal: Use sport + dialogue + safe spaces to break down silence, stereotypes and shame around periods, and to catalyse behavioural change.

Girls Speak Freely

An initiative primarily targeting girls in rural areas and urban slums, “Girls Speak Freely” creates safe, dignified environments for girls to talk about menstruation, hygiene, rights, and their futures.
Working closely with rural headmen and community influencers, we established sessions where girls could gather, learn, share, ask questions and be supported. These sessions are designed for behavioural change — not just information transfer.

Why it matters: Many girls face exclusion, stigma, drop-out, early pregnancy or low self-esteem because of menstrual taboos. Our aim is to shift mindsets and enable full participation in education and society.

Our First Ever Music Album

As part of The Period Pride Campaign, we launched our first-ever album Period Pride - The Rhythm under the artist name Period Mama. The 31-track album spans multiple genres, blending art, storytelling, and advocacy to normalize conversations around menstruation and break the taboos surrounding the topic.

Released via CD Baby and available on major streaming platforms worldwide, the album amplifies voices of women and girls while inspiring communities to embrace menstrual dignity. Music becomes both a tool and a message — reaching audiences of all ages, sparking dialogue, and supporting the campaign’s broader mission of empowerment and inclusion.

Using Football as an Agent of Change

Football is more than a game — it’s a movement for dialogue, dignity, and equality.
Recognising that boys and men are part of the change process, The Period Pride Campaign uses football as a powerful tool to shift mindsets, build empathy, and promote inclusion.

Our pilot project begins with a group of rural boys aged 10–18, engaging them in football sessions that combine sport with open discussions about respect, menstruation, and women’s empowerment. In partnership with community leaders, these boys learn to become allies — not just on the pitch, but in life.

Through fun, competitive matches and reflective dialogue, we teach values of teamwork, empathy, and respect, helping boys understand their role in ending gender-based violence and promoting menstrual dignity. The project is designed to grow, with the goal of scaling across countries and continents, creating a global network of young men advocating for equality.

Our work also celebrates the power of women in football. In Nigeria, our local women’s soccer team champions menstrual inclusion and equality both on and off the field. Their participation amplifies our call for gender equity, proving that women belong everywhere — in leadership, in sport, and in every space where change begins.

By using football as an agent of change, we bring people together, break social barriers, and transform sport into a global voice for dignity and inclusion.
