Education

Education is at the core of The Period Pride Campaign. We believe that every girl and boy deserves accurate, dignified, and empowering information about menstrual health — delivered in a way that is fun, relatable, and transformative. Our programmes are designed to spark conversations, shift mindsets, and build a supportive community around menstrual dignity.

What We Do

Deliver dynamic menstrual health workshops in rural villages, schools, and urban slums.

Facilitate Girls Speak Freely circles where girls learn openly, ask questions without fear, and build lasting confidence.

Use football sessions for boys to introduce menstruation education, gender equality, and allyship in a youth-friendly way.

Empower teachers, guardians, and community leaders with accurate menstrual health knowledge.

Distribute the “My First Period” booklet by Real Relief, a simple, beautifully designed guide that supports behavioural change by teaching girls — and boys - about menstruation in clear, culturally sensitive language.

Why “My First Period” Matters

Our education model is anchored by the My First Period booklet, a proven tool created by Real Relief to help young people understand menstrual health in a safe, relatable, and confidence-building way. The booklet improves behavioural change by:

  • Breaking down myths and taboos

  • Providing step-by-step knowledge in a child-friendly format

  • Encouraging open conversation between youth and adults

  • Helping boys understand their role as supporters and allies

  • Giving girls the dignity of accurate, empowering information

Why This Work Is So Important

Many girls miss school or feel ashamed simply because no one ever explained menstruation properly. Boys often grow up with misinformation or silence. By educating both genders — with practical tools and relatable methods — we are dismantling harmful beliefs and building a generation that leads with dignity, pride, and understanding.

Our Approach

  • Energetic, interactive, and youth-focused

  • Grounded in community storytelling and lived experiences

  • Supported by football, music, and culturally relevant tools

  • Designed to create long-term behaviour change, not just awareness

Impact

Our education programmes are reaching girls and boys across communities, improving menstrual knowledge, boosting school attendance, reducing shame, and strengthening support systems for women and girls. With My First Period as a core learning tool, we are shaping a future where menstrual dignity is normalised — and celebrated.
